Understanding the Different Types of Bedspreads
You should also make sure that it gels well with your style and the look of your bedroom.
As you set out to buy new bedspreads, knowing about the different types available will put you in good stead and will come in handy.

Here is a quick list of the most widely available types.

Quilted – These are one of the most popular varieties of bedcovers. Stitched patterns on top of the fabric are the most identifiable feature of quilted bedspreads. In addition to the comfort, they add a touch of opulence to your bedroom. They are mostly made from warm fabrics and are longer than other types of bedspreads. Perfect to help you stay cozy and warm, they are a great option for winters. Though these may be a bit more expensive than the rest, you will not regret buying this type of bedspread, especially if you want to lend a touch of romance and luxury to the bedroom.

Reversible – Just as the name suggests, these can be used as a bedspread on either side. They mostly have one patterned side and the other one in the solid color of the same palette as the patterned one. They are a practical choice, if you are looking for something that can last long and is right for your budget. You will also find reversible bedspreads with one or both sides quilted. If you want to like changing the appearance of your bedroom and get bored with patterns easily, you should opt for these.

Chenille – These bedspreads come with tufted designs and patterns. The word Chenille comes from the French word caterpillar and is used for fabrics that have thick fabrics protruding from the base fabric. Vintage chenille bedspreads usually had a pale colored base with bright threads being used for the tufted patterns and designs. These give your bedroom a more traditional look and are great to snuggle under. Polyester is now being used in creating the chenille bedspreads. But if you are keen on using natural fabrics only, a lot of online and other retailers have cotton versions too, similar to the vintage ones.

Cotton – These come in majorly two different types: standard and the much revered Egyptian type. They are ideal if you live in an area that sees warm weather almost throughout the year. The best part about these bedspreads is that they are really lightweight and are extremely breathable. You will find that they help keep the bedding really cool in summers.
The standard cotton ones are lighter compared to the Egyptian ones. As they tend to get thinner with every wash, they are not too durable. Egyptian ones, on the other hand, are thicker and with a higher thread count. This makes them softer and smoother to touch, making them more popular and sought after.

Polyester – Certainly not as comfortable as the other types of bedspreads, polyester bedspreads are more durable and need low maintenance. They might not appeal to you if you value quality and aesthetics over durability.

It’s time to give your home décor a new twist with these unique types of bedspreads, and give your home a new look.
