A Delicious Old Fashioned Fudge Recipe

Fudge is a classic treat that brings back memories of childhood and indulgence. The old fashioned fudge recipe is a timeless favorite that never fails to satisfy the sweet tooth. In this article, we will explore the steps to create this delectable treat and enjoy its rich and creamy texture.

To make old fashioned fudge, you will need the following ingredients: 2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 cup of whole milk, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 cup of chopped nuts (optional).

Start by combining the sugar and milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Next, add the butter to the saucepan and continue stirring until it melts and blends well with the sugar and milk mixture. Increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a boil again. Let it boil for approximately 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.

After the mixture reaches the soft-ball stage (235-240°F or 113-116°C), remove it from the heat. Add the vanilla extract and stir vigorously until the fudge starts to thicken and lose its gloss. At this point, you can also add the chopped nuts if desired.

Pour the fudge into a greased square baking dish and let it cool at room temperature for about 2 hours. Once cooled, cut the fudge into small squares and store in an airtight container.

The old fashioned fudge recipe is a delightful treat that is easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Its smooth and creamy texture, combined with the rich flavors of sugar and butter, make it a favorite among both young and old. So, why not indulge in this classic dessert and enjoy the simple pleasure of homemade fudge?
